A dye cell is basically a electro-chemical sandwich with a 20 microns nano layer of titanium dioxide, dye, and electrolyte.
Solar energy technology is effective and reliable. However for solar energy to take a more significant slice of the world energy markets, it must lower manufacturing costs to below 70 cents per peak watt. It is Orionsolar’s contention that our improvements to existing dye cell nano-technology will enable us to be the first to achieve this target.
Over the years, more than 50 university research teams around the world have worked to increase the lifetime, size, and efficiency of dye cells. This technology is now ready for commercialization.
Dye cells have advantages of being based on inexpensive raw materials and production inputs and the production line costs 80% less than the cost of a silicon line.
