Molecular Identification of the CRAC Channel
|Organization:||University of California, Irvine, California, US|
|I.P. Brief:||The Calcium Release-Activated Calcium (“CRAC”) channel was shown to be missing or defective in patients with severe combined immune deficiency. When the gates of calcium ion channels open, calcium floods the cell, which leads to the accumulation of a transcription factor in the nucleus. Such accumulation activates gene transcription.|
