Progenesis Technologies, LLC

Location:WV, US
Speaker:Richard M. Niles, Ph.D.
Title:President
Primary Industry:Pharma & Biotech
Executive Summary:Alginates are biopolymers that are used in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical/medical industries. Alginate is extracted from brown seaweed. There are several problems associated with seaweed alginate: their harvest is seasonal, processing requires 15-20 steps, and seaweed alginate composition is fixed. Progenesis has discovered genetic techniques which allow bacteria to continually produce high amounts of alginate. Using patent-pending technology we believe that Progenesis can produce alginate at a lower cost than seaweed alginate. The unique properties of bacterial alginate will be used to produce new products for moisture control radioactive decontamination and drug delivery

“A major challenge for both the technology and the financial communities is finding a forum in which all parties can interact and explore possibilities for future innovation. TechConnect was created to fill this void, bringing both sides together under one roof into a setting that ultimately will help significant ground-breaking concepts come to life.”
