Jake M. Reder

New Business Development Project Leader
Cabot Corporation

Jake M. Reder joined Cabot Corporation’s (www.cabot-corp.com) New Business Development team in December 2002 from PolyTechnos Venture-Partners (www.polytechnos.com), where he had been an advisor on emerging nanotechnology-enabled investment opportunities.

Jake has studied, worked, and taught in Canada, Germany and the United States, and has been quoted and published in numerous scientific and business journals. He earned a B.Sc. with First Class Honours from the University of Waterloo, and a Ph.D. in Inorganic and Physical Chemistry as a Brown-Wetherill Fellow at Purdue University and Ludwig Maximilians Universität, focused on materials discovery and high throughput catalysis. He is a member of several scientific organisations and serves on a number of industrial advisory and philanthropic boards.

Currently, Jake is leading new business, external innovation, and knowledge management initiatives at Cabot. Amongst these are the new opportunity generation strategy, development and implementation of novel knowledge management systems, and leadership of the Cabot Fine Particle Network. The CFPN is a unique approach to strategic alliances that is designed to address the needs and opportunities presented by the rapidly expanding field of nanotechnology. This group’s primary task is to source partners for collaboration, co-development, and investment through the lens of well-defined customer requests.

“A major challenge for both the technology and the financial communities is finding a forum in which all parties can interact and explore possibilities for future innovation. TechConnect was created to fill this void, bringing both sides together under one roof into a setting that ultimately will help significant ground-breaking concepts come to life.”

Matthew Laudon, Co-Founder and Director of TechConnect
