| Executive Summary: | The drug discovery process and pipeline is facing significant challenges. DiscoveryBioMed, Inc. is a young cell engineering and drug discovery company that is using a novel integrated approach to face and overcome those challenges. Cell engineering and drug discovery sound like to very different "life sciences" spaces. In our world, they are integrated into a single process and common infrastructure for a common goal. In this light, DiscoveryBioMed, Inc. is a custom human cell-based drug discovery company. We provide access to this unique infrastructure to commercial and academic clients (individual investigators, teams of investigators , academic institutions, companies) as a service. DBM, Inc. also has its own drug discovery R&D initiatives. In particular, it is our engineered human cell cultures and lines from normal and diseased tissue that are the key platforms for drug discovery. We project revenue generation of $250,000 in the first 5 quarters of operation that continues to trend upward. We are supported currently by services revenue, generous investment from the Birmingham Technology Fund, and an SBIR award. We project "breakeven" status in early 2010. |
