| Executive Summary: | Founded in 2005 Vancouver-based ExRo Technologies Inc. has developed a patented technology platform that operates both as a generator and a motor for renewable and conventional energy and hybrid-electric vehicle applications.
The Variable Input Electrical Generator, or VIEG, (veej) self-adjusts in real time to capture the natural fluctuations found in renewable energy sources, such as wind. In a portable generator, the VIEG scales to rising or falling demand load-- reducing fuel consumption by matching resistance to load.
In both cases, the ability to retain peak efficiency while rightsizing the machine reduces capital cost while increasing output. Lab-based simulations with a working prototype show the potential for double-digit efficiency gains over current systems.
ExRo is currently in the validation stage with parallel assembly and market entry efforts of the portable generator and small wind VEIG applications. Revenue is expected in early 2010. |
