Challenge Finalists present to corporate, investment, and federal funding agencies at the Defense Energy Summit, co-located with the Fall SBIR/STTR Conference November 11-13, Austin, TX

The annual Defense Energy Summit (DES) will take place November 11-13, 2014 at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center in Austin, TX.  The Defense Energy Summit brings together the defense-energy ecosystem, focusing on the needs and solutions of energy providers, project finance sources, early and growth stage companies, defense contractors, military installations & operational leaders, and purchasing agents.

This year, the DES is co-located with the Fall SBIR/STTR Conference, which will bring funding leaders from all DOD SBIR Funding Agencies, including the DOD, Army, Navy, Air Force, DARPA, DTRA, DHS, SOCOM, and MDA.

Two Challenge Programs run concurrently with the DES.  The deadline to submit to is Friday, August 8th:

Defense Energy Technology Challenge (DETC):
With collaboration from the DOD, U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and installation and operational facilities worldwide, the 5th Defense Energy Technology Challenge delivers top defense-targeted energy solutions to match with military testing and procurement opportunities. Submitted applications will be reviewed and a select group will be invited to present and receive onsite feedback from a high-level panel of Army, Navy and Air Force, utility, corporate and investment representatives in Austin. Organizations with defense-related energy solutions submit application (no fee to apply) by August 8th, 2014.

Utility Technology Challenge (UTC):
The UTC is seeking companies and technologies focused on cleaner and more environmentally sustainable energy solutions. The technologies with the best balance of stage of development, potential impact, cost and ease of implementation will be selected to showcase their company, with top ranked solutions invited to present to a panel of utility, military, finance and industry development partners.  Organizations with utility energy solutions submit application (no fee to apply) by August 8th, 2014.

The Defense Energy Summit (DES) is produced by TechConnect, in partnership with the Clean Technology & Sustainable Industries Organization (CTSI), which runs both Challenge Programs.

“In alignment with DOD and DOE areas of interest, the Challenge Programs are designed to address the massive energy needs of military and industry,” said Dr. Matthew Laudon, Co-Chair of the Summit and Executive Director of CTSI.  “The Defense Energy Summit and co-located Fall SBIR/STTR Conference in Austin bring a direct extension and audience to both Programs.  Thanks to our military and federal agency partners, we are bringing the most promising energy-related technologies to Austin, one of the fastest-growing cities in the US focused on innovation and investment.”
