University of Florida To Locate Research Facility in Orlando

Lake Nona Medical City will be home to several biotech and pharma related programs for UF

The state of Florida is on track to invest $61 million for the Lake Nona Medical City, a 100,000 square-foot biomedical research facility. The UF Research Center will be home to a Comprehensive Drug Development Center; the UF College of Pharmacy doctoral program in Pharmacy, and biomedical research laboratories. The planned University of Florida facilities at Lake Nona Medical City will join the Burnham Institute for Medical Research, Orlando VA Medical Center, Nemours Children’s Hospital, MD Anderson Orlando Cancer Research Institute and the UCF College of Medicine. It is believed this combination of research and academic centers will bring about increases in translational research activity to address various medical fields, including diabetes and aging.
