Indonesia Will Invest Multi-Millions Into Nanotechnology Research

The Indonesia government will spend more than $26M US on nanotech R&D through 2010

The Ministry of National Education will provide the majority of the nanotech research funding, with an additional fusion of funding to come from the Ministry of Industry. The government will use the funding for more than 60 nanotech research projects focused on nanotech applications for industry. The Indonesian Nanotechnology Society has worked with the government to help identify the research projects that will receive the first funding. According to Deddy Mulyadi, head of the research and development division at the Industry Ministry, Indonesia sees nanotech as having the potential to benefit several of the country’s main industry sectors, including ceramics, textiles, food, energy, information technology and communications.
