Bayer MaterialScience Unveils World’s Largest CNT Pilot Facility

Company has invested more than $20M Euros into the German facility
Bayer MaterialScience is making a big bet in what is expected to be growing demand for industrial applications for its multi-walled carbon nanotubes, Baytubes®. The new facility has an annual capacity of 200 metric tons; their other pilot facility in Germany, established in 2007, has an annual quantity of 60 metric tons. The company is one of a handful of companies currently capable of producing high-quality CNTs at the industrial level. According to Bayer MaterialScience, Baytubes® are the next generation CNTs, capable of being added to polymer or metal systems to greatly improve overall strength and can convey electrical properties.
