Venture Capital Investments On the Rise

Data shows increase in both dollars invested and number of deals

During the first two quarters of 2010, more than $11 Billion dollars was invested in more than 1,600 deals. CleanTechnology investments continue to dominate, as investments doubled from its Q1 2010 figures, which breaks the quarterly record for this sector according to the PwC/NVCA Money Tree Report.

The majority of industry sectors (11 of 17) tracked by the Money Tree Report experienced an increase in funding. Semiconductors, Financial Services, and Telecommunications all experienced declines in venture investments from Q1 to Q2 2010. Seed, early stage, and expansion stage investments increased during this time period. While later stage investments remained flat, the number of deals for this category increased for the same period.
