Canon and Toray Join Forces to Create World’s Largest Bio-Based Plastic Part for Office Systems

Largest bio-based exterior plastic part is an industry first
The plastic part measures 640mm wide by 440mm high, and weighs approximately 1,100 grams. The novel part will be used in select Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE models. Combining Toray’s materials design technology and Canon’s advanced molding techniques, both companies discovered improvements in material characteristics, leading to the development of the office systems industry’s largest exterior part. The novel bio-based plastic part is expected to reduce manufacturing-related CO2 emissions by 20 percent. Both companies will continue to work together on developing additional bio-based plastic for more office products components.
