India to Establish 14 Innovation Universities

Mission of the Innovation Universities to focus on tackling global concerns including diseases, poverty, and water
This month, India’s Minister for Human Resources Development and Communications Kapil Sibal announced the plans for the new universities. The establishment of innovative institutions will bring increased collaboration between society, industry, and research to address global problems. The new universities will focus on all areas of an innovation economy, from conducting basic research to training next generation science and technology teachers to creating an Indian Ivy League institution that focuses on the broader social sciences.
