UK Prime Minister Announces $100M US+ Catalyst Fund to Boost Life Sciences Cluster

Fund will focus on commercializing new technologies for medical breakthroughs
The new Catalyst Fund is part of a larger plan by Prime Minster David Cameron to increase life sciences innovations coming out of the universities and research institutions in the UK. Prime Minister Cameron has also proposed a partnership between the UK’s National Health Service and private healthcare companies, which he believes will give patients quicker access to new treatments. The new initiative and proposal are geared towards making the UK the world leader in the life sciences sector; currently, the sector employs more than 160,000 people and generates more than $40B US/year in revenue.
