World Economic Forum Announces its List of Technology Pioneers for 2009

More than 30 companies were selected for their accomplishments in innovation and use of advanced technologies for significant social and economic impact.
For 2009 consideration, the World Economic Forum (WEF) received more than 300 submissions from around the world, which were reviewed by a review board of 44 technology experts. According to the WEF, “The Technology Pioneers programme is the World Economic Forum's means of identifying and integrating those companies around the world that are involved in the design and development of new technologies.” Industry categories included: Biotech/Pharma, Energy/Environment, and IT.
