TechConnect Shines as Beacon of Opportunity for Emerging Technology and Corporate Business Solutions

2009 TechConnect Summit Featured Dozens of Technologies and Young Companies, Technology Marketplace and Fortune 500 Corporate Partnering Talks. 2010 Promises to Be Even Bigger!

The TechConnect Summit was held May 4-6 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX. Universities and early stage companies representing more than two dozen countries showcased their advanced technologies and business plans to thousands of attendees from around the world.

More than a dozen Fortune 500 companies gave Corporate Partnering talks in Houston--presentations that focused on their present and future technology needs, as well as their technology investment areas of interest. Companies participating in Houston included Applied Materials, BP, Dow Chemical, Eastman Kodak, Genzyme, GlaxoSmithKline, Honda, Lockheed Martin, Medtronic, Merck, Omron, and Philips.

The annual TechConnect Summit is the nation’s largest forum for pre-screened technologies and early stage companies in the emerging technology space. All submissions are peer-reviewed by an Advisory Board representing more than 60 individuals from business, academia, and investment communities. “TechConnect is unique in specifically bringing together the creators of breakthrough technologies with corporations who can help commercialize, adopt, buy, re-sell and invest in those technologies,” said George Petracek, Managing Director of Atrium Capital, US and member of the TechConnect Board.

For 2009, the TechConnect Marketplace Expo featured universities, start-up companies, and professional services firms showcasing technologies, prototypes, and services to conference attendees. "TechConnect is a unique combination of initiatives allowing technologies and market needs to meet,” notes Mr. Matthias Kuhn, MBA/ Senior Licensing Officer, Unitec, University of Geneva, CH. “This year in Houston, our tech transfer office made excellent contacts again.”

Save the Date! TechConnect Summit June 21-25, 2010

The 2010 TechConnect Summit will take place June 21-25, 2010, in Anaheim, CA, and will be co-located with NSTI Nanotech and CTSI Clean Technology conferences, which provides attendees with business and networking synergies that one can only find at our event. Submissions for IPs and Ventures will open in the fall of 2009.

Several F500 companies have already confirmed their participation for Anaheim in the Corporate Partnering Forum, including BP, Dow Chemical, Honda, Toray, Medtronic, and Merck.

The 2010 TechConnect Marketplace will double in size and become the center point of the Exhibit Hall focused on corporate partnering and technology matchmaking for all three co-located conferences.
