2,2’-Azobis(2,4-dimethyl)valeronitrile (ADVN), an azo compound, is widely used as free initiator for polymer industry due to its specific chemical structure, N-N bond, which can supply abundant free radical and high energy to promote cross-linking and initial reaction. In addition, it is also applied for dope dyeing. However, ADVN possess extreme photo sensitive. The thermal decomposition properties may be changed by UV radiation, resulting in amounts of heat and toxic gas is released that can cause the human injuries or environmental disruption. To avoid the above hazard for ADVN, the thermal stability characteristics and decomposition products with different intensities of UV radiation according to located latitude were observed by calorimetric and product’s analysis technology for ensuring the safety of using, storage, transportation, and discard conditions. Moreover, the kinetic parameters also were obtained by various kinetic models to predict kinetic behaviors for ADVN. Historically, the concerns of environmental protect and sustainable energy are a crucial topics for industrial process. In this study, a prevented mechanism could be established for eliminating the hazards of high (highly) energetic chemicals to reduce the occurrence of unfortunate industrial accidents.
