With their huge mechanical, thermal and electrical properties, carbon nanotubes are good candidates as reinforcements in material composites. However, such materials are not easy to elaborate and several problems occurred such as the dispersion of the CNTs inside the matrix, and the absence of matrix-nanotubes interface which prevent a good transfer of properties. To enhance the material properties, a step-by-step procedure has been developed for the fabrication of a copper-CNTs composite through the use of a French patent. In order to create strong chemical links between Cu and CNT, Cu nanodots are deposited through a new and innovative technique onto CNT surface. Mixing, densification process and conditions are then optimized. Physical properties will be presented, and experimental results will be compared by a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation.
