TechConnect Innovation Tracking: Ideal Power Converters, a TechConnect Accelerator participant-Santa Clara, CA, 2012

With their low cost, lightweight wall-mountable PEV Charger, IPC was selected to speak at this year’s TechConnect World’s Utility Technology Challenge.  They have received a $2.5M grant from U.S. Department of Energy ARPA-E (Advanced Research Project Agency-Energy) to further develop and extend IPC performance benefits. Based out of Austin, TX, IPC will manufacture its products in high volume in the US for distribution to both domestic and international markets, while generating much needed manufacturing jobs and exports in the clean energy sector.

IPC recently announced their bi-directional Battery Converter has been used by The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to successfully demonstrate vehicle to grid (V2G) capabilities. Their technology allows vehicles to optimally exchange power with the electricity grid, unique in that it not only proves technical capability, but also highlights its economic viability. While it weighs less than 100lbs and can be wall-mounted inside or outside, it will begin shipping in 2013 following industry certifications.

Paul Bundschuh, Chief Executive Officer, IPC tells TechConnect News that this was his third time attending and said “The TechConnect World Conference continues to be a great networking opportunity for us.”
