TechConnect Innovation Tracking: Enerize Corporation, a TechConnect Accelerator participant-Santa Clara, CA, 2012

Enerize is an early-revenue company commercializing advanced, solid state Li-ion batteries and advanced manufacturing methods. The company has developed prototyped cells, and their tests show better performance than current consumer electronics LiCoO2 batteries. Enerize’s flexible batteries can also be created at a lower cost with much higher safety, according to the company.

Enerize plans to manufacture cells in the US and deliver end user solutions - batteries or battery packs - to large corporations in vertical markets requiring high working temperature, such as oil & gas, petrochemical, and mining. Enerize owns 14 US patents and 18 patent applications.

Ms. Dr. Elena Shembel, CEO of Enerize, tells TechConnect News that the company’s business model is focused on an “open innovation strategy that will leverage technology to business partnerships with battery system integrators to rapidly scale revenue.”

Ms. Dr. Shembel tells TechConnect news that “many of the quality meetings [she has] had have come from the TechConnect conferences.”  With increased visibility to corporations and follow ups from potential funders, Enerize is hopeful that the company is poised to become a leader in renewable energy products and services.

Enerize first attended TechConnect in 2011, and has also been recognized as an ARPA-E Encouraged Applicants and a Google’s RechargeIT Investment RFP finalist.  The company is looking for funding and development partners.
