Singapore Invests $35M US in New Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Centre of Excellence

Centre will design integrated circuits and systems for multiple industrial applications

The Centre will be funded by Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Economic Development Board (EDB). The IC Centre of Excellence named VIRTUS will focus on circuits and systems for applications in clean technology, medical technology, consumer electronics, and security. There are more than 1,100 IC design engineers in Singapore, and the new Centre will also focus on training and increasing the numbers of experienced IC design engineers. VIRTUS will work with other universities and companies for collaboration opportunities; one collaborator already signed on is Agilent Technologies. The Centre plans to be up and running by March 2010.
