Investments in Cleantech, Life Sciences, and IT dominate Canadian venture capital market during first quarter of 2010

Canadian Venture Capital Association notes Q1 2010 investments were slightly lower than Q1 2009
The venture capital community in Canada invested just over $275 million during the first three months of 2010, compared to $279 million for the same period in 2009. Cleantech investments represented more than a quarter of all venture investment activity in Canada for Q1 2010, with IT investments continuing to lead investments, capturing 37% of the total during this period. When comparing the provinces, Quebec came out on top, accounting for than one-third of venture investments in Canada.
