Accolades Continue for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner

Innovations in 787 Dreamliner include use of composite materials and fuel-efficient engines, making it the world's most technologically advanced commercial aircraft
This month, Boeing's 787 Dreamliner Team received the 2012 Aviation Week Laureate Award in Aeronatics/Propulsion. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the first airplane to provide long distance capabilities with mid-size capacity, which gives airlines the opportunity to create new, non-stop routes. For example, JAL will begin nonstop air travel from Boston to Tokyo next month. The 787 Dreamliner is 20 percent more fuel efficient than current airplanes of similar size. Sixty customers have placed a combined total of 868 orders for the Dreamliners, making the 787 the fastest-selling widebody airplane in the history of commercial aviation.
