MB’s SLS AMG E-Cell car battery is comprised of 324 lithium-ion polymer cells
SK Innovation was previously known as SK Energy Co., which was originally focused on petroleum and petrochemicals. At the start of 2011, SK Energy spun out its oil refinery business and became SK Innovation. The company has received orders from Korea-headquartered Hyundai and Kia for its batteries. Daimler’s MB E-Cell Supercar is expected to be in production in two years, and was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this year.
